Allergy, Asthma & Immunology

Anesthesia services are provided by four board-certified anesthesiologists and one nurse anesthetist at Carson City Hospital.
Sonus of Lansing provides basic hearing services at CCH. Hearing tests, tympanograms (middle ear assessments), and consultations are available. Testing is performed by Certified Clinical Audiologists.
Cardiac Rehabilitation is a program of monitored exercise and cardiac education. The program is aimed at returrning a person who has had a heart problem to their fullest physical potential, as well as teaching them what they need to know to cope with necessary changes in lifestyle that could prevent further heart problems.
Your primary care physician's referral is necessary to be enrolled in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Contact your family physician to see if Cardiac Rehabilitation is an option for you.
Board certified specialists in Cardiology, disease of the heart, have regular office hours at CCH. A referral from your physician is necessary for this service.
Electrocardiograms (EKG's), stress EKG's, echocardiograms, pulmonary function studies, electroencephalograms (EEG's), sleep studies and a wide range of adult and pediatric services are available on inpatient and outpatient basis. Cardiopulmonary is managed by a registered therapist under the direction of a specialist in Internal Medicine.
A board certified cardiovascular surgeon sees patients at Carson City Hospital's Visiting Physicians Office. A referral from your physician is necessary for this service.
Located in the Carson Regional Health Services Building, the Carson Apothecary Shoppe offers a full line of prescription drugs and other health care items for the public.
Carson Home Care Network offers a full range of health care services to patients within a large area or rural-Michigan. Available services include: nursing, medical social services, physical therapy, Lifeline, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy and Home Health Aide. Wound care, nutritionist and pharmacy consultations are also available. For information on these

Chemotherapy and IV Therapy
Our new state-of-the-art Outpatient Therapy Center features a patient-friendly seven-bed facility located inside
Carson City Hospital. Under the direction of Dr. UshaSree Chamarthy, the Center offers chemotherapy services,
infusion therapy, transfusion therapy, conscious sedation recovery, IV hydration therapy, antibiotic/steroid therapy,
doctor consult services and - for patient comfort - personal televisions in each therapy room. The Center is a
satellite of the award-winning Sparrow Regional Cancer Center.

A board-certified specialist dealing with the structure, functions, and diseases of the skin, has regular office hours at CCH.
Diabetes Education is offered at Carson City Hospital through the Diabetes Outpatient
Program of Montcalm County.
Classes are offered to individuals 18 and over with Type 1 or 2 Diabetes. Classes
are broken down as follows:
A - The 9-hour class is available in one-day or two-day sessions at various dates and times.
Individuals will receive:
- Class(es) of instruction with a nurse educator covering
- Physical changes associated with diabetes
- Factors which influence the level of blood glucose
- Daily self-management
- Sick day care
- Signs and symptoms with treatment of hyperglycemia(high blood sugar) and hypoglycemia(low blood sugar)
- Self glucose monitoring
- Long term complications and risk factors
- Over the counter drugs
- Oral hypoglycemic agents
- Insulin
- Instruction with the dietician covering dietary
guidelines such as meal planning, eating out, label reading, sick day
diets and exercise snacks. Includes an individualized meal plan.
B - One-to-one visits with nurse educator and dietician for those who cannot
attend a class. This session lasts about two hours and covers the same material listed
above.
C - One-to-one visits for gestational,
juvenile and special needs diabetes also available.
A fee is charged for educational services. Many insurances cover cost if ordered by
physician. Grants are available for special needs.
Family members and significant others are also encouraged to attend the program - at
no cost.
The Level III Emergency Room is staffed and equipped to provide emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A physician is on site at all times. Emergency radio communications are established with Montcalm County Ambulance and the EMS personnel are ACLS certified. Helicopter and ground Mobile Intensive Care transfers to tertiary facilities, are available when necessary. Our medical staff provides treatment for minor cuts and abrasions, earaches, sore throat, fever, cough, colds, flu and many other minor illnesses and procedures with charges that reflect the level of treatment.
Gastroenterology is the specialty concerned with the function and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Two board certified gastroenterologists see patients at CCH's Visiting Physicians Office.
Board certified general surgeons perform a full range of inpatient and outpatient procedures. A physician referral is required.
Health awareness programs on a wide variety of topics are available to inpatients, outpatients and community service organizations.
ICU/CCU and Stepdown Unit
Our newly renovated area is equipped with four intensive care beds and six step down coronary care beds. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) contains individual monitoring equipment, oxygen, compressed air and suction. An individual nurse call system, electrical outlets, cabinets and storage space provide easy access and safety for the patients. The Stepdown Unit allows patients to be monitored continuously under the direction of board certified specialists in Internal Medicine.
Two board certified specialists in Internal Medicine are available for inpatient and outpatient care. They perform a wide variety of services including cardiopulmonary procedures.
The modern laboratory at CCH is computerized to provide a full range of diagnostic services. The laboratory is staffed by medical technologists 24 hours a day and is operated under the direction of a full time Pathologist board certified in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology.
Offering services such as laser rejuvenation, laser hair removal, spider vein removal
and pseudo-folliculitis at two locations -- Greenville Family Care Center and Carson Family Care Center.
The Carson Behavioral Health Center provides acute inpatient psychiatric care within the context of a therapeutic community. The program is designed to help those persons who can benefit and improve with short-term care. It strives for clinical excellence, program flexibility, and individualized treatment. Treatment includes individual, group, family and occupational therapies, psychological testing, as well as specific patient teaching. A board eligible psychiatrist serves as director of the program.
For convenience of patients who have a neurological examination ordered by their family physician, these studies are conducted regularly at the CCH Visiting Physicians Office. Board certified neurologists are members of the American Academy of Neurology.
Nuclear Medicine performs a full range diagnostic imaging procedures with computerized equipment. All procedures are available on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Nuclear Medicine is staffed by registered nuclear medicine technologists under the direction of a board certified specialist in radiology and nuclear medicine.
The L. Linton and Virginia Budd Obstetrical Unit has been completely renovated. The 10 bed, monitored unit provides the new mother and baby with the comforts of home. This unique unit features three private labor, delivery, recovery, post-partum suites (LDRPs) and seven post-partum beds, LEVEL I and LEVEL II nurseries. Carson Health Network is proud to offer the area's first online birth announcements through Baby Online.
The Healthworks staff provides health education, safety programs, pre-employment physical exams and injury management for business and industry. In addition, after hours emergency services can be provided on a contractual basis.
A full range of eye care services is available through the offices of the CCH staff ophthalmologists and optometrists. Some of the services provided at CCH include lens implant surgery, cataract surgery, laser therapy and glaucoma treatment.
The CCH board certified specialists in orthopedic surgery help correct and prevent skeletal defects.
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment
One Board Certified physician in Carson City provides hands-on, non-evasive treatment
of the musculoskeletal system to improve structure function relationships.

Otolaryngology is a medical specialty concerned with the ear nose and throat. Two board certified otolaryngologists see patients in the CCH Visiting Physicians Office.
Two board-certified specialists are available for consultation and treatment. Self or physician referrals are accepted for pain management.
Psychiatry is the medical specialty concerning the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. Two board eligible psychiatrists see patients at CCH in an office setting and inpatient unit the Carson Behavioral Health Center.
The pediatric unit is staffed and equipped to cater to the special needs of children. Two board eligible staff pediatricians provide 24-hour medical coverage.
Comprehensive physical medicine and rehabilitation treatments are available by appointment Monday through Friday. Physical therapy services are provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis as well as through our home health care program, Carson Home Care Network.
The CCH Radiology Department has the latest in diagnostic radiographic equipment and is under the direction of a board certified radiologist. Services provided through radiology include Computerized Tomography (CT Scanning), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Bone Densitometry, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic X-Ray and Ultrasound.
CCH's surgery department is staffed by skilled medical professionals performing a range of surgeries, including same day surgery, from general surgery to highly specialized procedures. Pre and post-op care is handled by our nursing staff to ensure that each patient receives quality care.
Urology is the specialty of medicine concerned with diagnosis and medical treatment of disorders of the urogenital system and the male genital system. Carson Health Network has two board certified urologists that see patients.
