What do I need to access the wireless network?
You need a laptop or a PDA equipped with a Wi-Fi compliant 802.11 wireless Ethernet card and a standard web browser.
How do I connect to the network?
Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) is available at the Carson City Hospital campus (Main Hospital and the Professional Building) with rare exceptions.
Check to make sure your Wi-Fi software and card are correctly installed and powered on.
Open your wireless software and scan for wireless networks.
Connect to the network named "Public".
Open your browser and you're ready.
Having difficulty connecting? Here are things to check...
Manually set your SSID to "Public". Refer to your Wi-Fi card manufacturer's instructions on how to set the SSID.
Ensure that WEP encryption is disabled and authentication is set to "none".
Make sure that the connection is set for "Infrastructure" mode.
If any changes were made in steps 1-3 restart your computer.
There are a few areas where the wireless
signal is weak or unavailable. Move to another area and try again
if you think the wireless network (Wi-Fi) is not present.
