Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is the branch of medicine that uses specially designed exercises and equipment to help patients regain or improve their physical abilities. Physical therapists work with many types of patients, such as those suffering from an injury or post-stroke patients.

Carson City Hospital's Physical Rehabilitation Center/Physical Therapy Department offers you the following services:

  • Physical rehabilitation
  • Aquatherapy in our indoor, state-of-the-art, therapeutic pool
  • Outpatient physical therapy
  • Occupational health
  • Occupational therapy
  • Home health care services

The Carson City Hospital Physical Rehabilitation Center is a hospital-based facility in a separate building on the Carson City Hospital campus. A 5,000-square-foot facility, it offers a full line of therapeutic equipment, including a 12-foot-by-18-foot multi-step-depth pool, the only such therapy pool in Carson City Hospital’s four-county service area. Aquatherapy has a significant advantage over non-aquatic therapy because it enhances the rate of recovery in range of motion, strength, gait and balance to restore functional mobility. It is especially suitable for patients with spinal impairments, or post-surgery.

In February 2008, the Carson Health Network’s Physical Rehabilitation Center began entering its spine rehabilitation program. This consists of a group of multidisciplinary professionals – including physical and occupational therapists, physical therapists assistants, and licensed social workers. It is under the medical direction of Dr. Parut Bhimalli.
